My name is Barbara Cerveny. I am the mother of 12. My first birth was in the back of an ambulance and after that experience my husband, Dan and I started looking into other options. We have had our children in a doctor's office, in a hospital, at home with a doctor, at home with a midwife, and at home by ourselves. I am abit of a naturalist (not as much as I would like). I homeschool my children (I still have 4 under 18). I have a strong faith in God and in his divine plan for women. I believe I am a Jack of All Trades and a Master of None. I believe in self education and that we are never to old to learn something new or expand on our knowledge. I believe that woman have relinquished control of their bodies to others, instead of learning for themselves. We as women have quit sharing and caring and supporting each other through all things in life. Sorry Soap box.
I would like to express my birthing philosophy. I firmly believe in women and their power to birth naturally. I believe women have been
programmed to believe that they just can't do this. I know there are exceptions but I don't believe that number is as high as the statistics are. In Mississippi, we have an extremely high Cesarean rate, when in reality if women were educated to take care of themselves in pregnancy and taught that they are capable of having babies, the Cesarean rate could be one-fourth what it is. The epidural rate is unreal and I believe that women can do better. I would never force someone to do things my way, but I do recommend that each of us take the time to explore our options. I believe that women are entitled to the best birth experience possible without the negative influences of doctors, nurses, midwives, spouses and any other family member or the attitudes of insurance companies and legislative bodies.
